June Favourites

 Yes the year is going too fast, let's begin. First things first, this candle from Primark smells amazing. I've put it by my bed so I can just smell it, It's a watermelon scent and the colour of the candle is amazing and vibrant as well, and it was like £1.50! Bargain.

 My lips are a nightmare and I always suffer from dry and chapped lips, that was until I randomly picked this up in Boots. It's the Nivea Essential Care lip balm and it's a god send. My lips haven't felt this uncracked in ages and I can actually wear lipsticks now without it looking all weird and a little bit nasty!

 The other blue product in this photo is another random purchase of mine and this is the Rimmel Match Perfection Powder. I swapped my Mac Mineralize Skin Finish Natural out of my everyday face and this bad boy is here instead. It's so nice and applies really nicely onto my skin as I use it to set my makeup. It lasts pretty long and doesn't make me look cakey and uneven, like Mac tends to do.

 I love Juicy Couture perfumes, I have millions, I love love love them. I always wear a scent at a time then swap it around, so at the moment I am rocking the Juicy Couture Viva La Juicy Noir. For my birthday just gone I asked my parents for the Viva La Juicy Gold perfume as it was pretty new and I hadn't bought it yet, and instead I received another bottle of Noir (mum got confused bless her) so I literally have about 3 or 4 bottles of this stuff back stocked in my drawer, I love it. (Did eventually receive Gold perfume, merci parents).

 I've been giving my used and empty products back to Mac now for years, I love the idea and scheme of it, and plus, free lipstick?! Hell yeah! Although I have read that apparently in America you either get a lipstick or eyeshadow?! Would love the choice as I do have rather a lot of Mac lipsticks now. Anyway, my latest one I chose at the counter is Chatterbox which is an Amplified lipstick. It's a gorgeous pink shade and actually suits me nicely!

 I bought a massive Soap and Glory gift box at Christmas time when it was on offer because everyone was talking about how good it was and I've been making my way slowly through it since. I have had this product sat in my bathroom since, unused until I watched people's monthly favourites videos last month and thought I would actually pick it up and use it. Soap and Glory's Sugar Scrub is bloody amazing.. Why haven't I used it sooner. It smells amazing and really makes my skin feel refreshed, smooth and it's just uuuuhh bloody amazing. I will definitely be rebuying this one when it's empty.

 Finally, I hate hate hate painting my nails. I'm rubbish at it, I'm inpatient waiting for them to dry and aaaaalways no matter how careful I am, smudge them and get nail polish everywhere. Always. But I've been wearing this Rimmel 60 Second Nail Polish in Black a lot recently. I love a good black nail (I am Kylie Jenner after all) and this formula is easy(ish) to apply, dries quickly and stays nice for a few days (if I don't pick it off before hand). I really am useless when it comes to nails, I neeeeeed to sort it out.

Fairy Light Heart Jar..//home decor

 I rent a flat with my boyfriend, which means decorating is limiting. It is furnished as well which means most of the furniture was here to begin with, we own a few pieces, mainly in the bedroom, but like, the sofa and dining table and that, were here. We couldn't afford to buy lots of furniture as we had both just literally finished university when we moved in, but we're getting there. After months of trying to get it in a place where it's mildly organised and homely, I began doing little things to decorate the place.

Like practically every female today, I am obsessed with fairy lights. They just create the cosiest and homely vibe and atmosphere, I love them. I have some hanging up in the living room, balanced on top of the blinds, and some wrapped around the bed frame, and I want more but the boyfriend said no.. But then I also have this jar in the living room on the table. I've always wanted to do a decorative feature with a jar, I remember back in my college days I bought this box of fake rose petals from Ikea with intention's to buy a jar to put them all in nicely, and didn't, they sat in the box for years until I went to university, then I stuck them all over my cork board amongst posters and photographs, as we weren't allowed to stick stuff on the wall (did anyway but yeah..). Then one day I was walking around Primark and I found these cute heart fairy lights, and then bought them. I couldn't find anywhere around the flat I wanted to put them though, so that day we went to Ikea in search of frames to put our degrees in I believe, and then I bought this jar/vase thing to put them in.

 I think it looks so cute, and when the rooms all dark and I'm all chilled I'll pop it on and it just makes it all worm and cosy and thank the lord for fairy lights. I want to do another one of these for the bedroom for the side table I believe, I have to go and buy a new duvet set anyway since my boyfriend decided to upgrade to a king sized duvet, not the bed, it's still a double, just the duvet.. at first I was like erm no.. then he did it, and now I love it, it's like sleeping in a cloud. Anyway, I'm sure when I pick up a duvet set I'll stumble on some fairy lights, jar 'em, and then put them somewhere. Could this be the new fairy light trend? Instead of hanging them on a wall? Jar them? Who knows! I like it!

Ombré.. Do I Don't I?

 I am 22 years old and I have never ever evener dyed my hair. I consider and think about it every single year, but every time I get close to making a decision I chicken out or people are like "Don't you'll ruin your hair," "Don't you'll regret it," etc. etc. But thiiiiis year, I am determined to take the plunge and dye my hair. Exciting stuff.

 Now, If I could go to the hairdressers right now with a load of money (the dream) I would be like, Make me Kylie Jenner, Now. Please. and then hopefully I would walk out the salon looking fierce in my teal locks. But that's not going to happen now really is it. So let's be reasonable and serious about this Laura yeaah..

 I've always had long thick and naturally curly hair, in over words, a massive long frizz ball on my head. When I apply serum, the bottle says like, 2-3 pumps, but that covers an 1/8 of my hair, so I have to pump about 13-17 times.. #Frizzprobs. I cut my hair once, can't remember how old I was but I had a pet hamster, that's all I remember, so that's helpful to you, not.. but I honestly all I remember about this hair phase was the fact I had a fat and lazy hamster.. but anyway, I regretted it immediately. As soon as she finished cutting my hair and I looked in the mirror I was like "What the hell do I look like" and spent hours in my room on my bean bag crying.. then I was like, never again. So since then, however old I was, want to say like 11-12, don't know.. I've had stupidly long hair.


 I don't know how or why, but when I first got to University and during my first and second years, my hair grew at an outstanding rate on my head. I literally would go to my hairdressers for a 4-5 inch trim, and it would grow back within a week. My hair is always fast growing, but for some reason, at Uni when I had no funding to get the often haircut, it decided it would grow every single day. I felt like Rapunzel. My hairs slowing down now, but it still really needs a good trim.

 ANYWAY, back to hair dye. I've always wanted the dip-dye ombré that everyone and their mothers either have right now or have done.. But I really like it still and have always umm'd and ahh'd over doing it. I think next payday, I'm gunna do it..

 Lately though I've just been seeing and hearing about bad ombre's happening (apologies to friends involved) that I'm also apprehensive and scared! What if it turns out horrible and I cry.. And do I dye my whole hair to a nice darker brown and then ombre, or do I just ombre from my natural hair colour?! Do I go full on blonde tips, or just a lighter colour of brown?! Decisions decisions.

What do you think, is ombre done and dusted now? Is there a new hair trend out there I should consider instead, or do you still love the dip dye?

February Wishlist..

I am skint beyond belief, so this post was so hard to create because I just want them all NOW! So hard to resist buying them at this very moment. But these are the main few items I cannot get off my mind at this present time, I'm sure by next week there will be another 8 or 14 added to the list, I have a problem..

First up is this sleeveless coat from New Look, I am obsessed with this sleeveless outwear look coming up, sleeveless trenchcoats, sleeveless blazers, all sorts, it's too chic to handle, thank you Victoria Beckham. I want the look, so I have chosen this beaut to soon be worn by myself, hopefully very soon.

I have some straighteners which were about £10-£20 from Boots, they do the job but not amazingly. I have stupidly thick and long hair and I've finally grasped the concept of straightening my own hair, been relying on my friends for far too long, so I want to up my game and invest in some GHDs. Like now. And I see these ones everywhere at the moment and they really do look fabulous, so I want.

Bold Metals, no shock this is in my wishlist. I have the Oval Eyeshadow, because it was the only brush left in my local Boots, but this one is next on my list. 

Ripped jeans are a must this SS15, they're so fab. I love the boyfriend baggy style as well, so I think these jeans will be perfect for me right now.

The love I have for this jumper right now is real, so real. I need this Sleeping Beauty jumper like we need water to survive, okay extremely dramatic and over the top but I just want to communicate how much I feel I need this jumper in my life. How amazing is it. HOW. I think if I were to own it I'd never take it off. EVER.

And finally, all my converse I own are broken. It must be the way I walk or how much I live in them or something but they're aaaaalll destroyed, so I need to one by one start replacing them so I can wear Converse again in my life. These I believe were my first pair, so I shall start here again.

Ootd #1- Evening Date to Prezzo

 I went to Prezzo the other night with my boyfriend and it was delicious, bloody love pizza. I wore a like, shimmery metallic top from New Look I hadn't worn before but bought way before Christmas.. tend to do that often. I love the shape of this top, the only problem was the glitter on it was getting absolutely everywhere which is a pain. I wore my new New Look knee slit jeans, I love jeans, I find them comfortable and go with absolutely everything, ultimate lazy dresser essential aka me. I have to wear belts with my jeans though, because I can never find a perfect fit for my body. I have a small waist but struggle with the thigh and booty area, so can never win with jeans, but I don't mind wearing belts! Lastly I wore my block heel Chelsea boots from Primark, which were so uncomfortable when I first bought them, but now they're fine. I have a small hatred for wearing heels, well I say small, it's pretty big. It's not that I don't want too... It's just that they kill my feet so much and I'm a big baby when it comes to shoes hurting. I have these shoes I wore once for 15 minutes until they ripped up all my feet, and haven't worn them ever again, what a waste of money, but I am a big baby when it comes to shoes, like I said. I need to look for new block heeled Chelsea boots though because I mainly wear these ones when I go out clubbing and that, and they're so grotty now, it's not good. Jewellery wise I don't really wear much because it usually ends up irritating me and I take it off. I wore my Tiffanys necklace which Luke got me for Christmas and haven't taken it off since (apart from in the shower and bed obvs but you know what I mean) and my dearly loved Pandora bracelet which has enough room for one or two maybe charms, which makes me happy.

Lush Lately..

Alike every young adult in the country right now, I am loving lush. I have always done but lately it's all I have been wanting to spend my money on. My recent purchase has been the one that seems everyone has been buying according to my Instagram feed, but why the hell not, it looks amazing and who doesn't want a unicorn melting fabulously in their bath. The product I have actually used recently has been the Granny Takes a Dip. I always see mixed things about this one and this was my first time using it but I actually really enjoyed it. The colours were great, especially when it had finished fizzling, it left this beautiful hot pink shade which I enjoyed bathing in. The scent and feeling of my skin when I finished my bath was fab as well, so overall I really enjoyed this product, which was actually not one I picked myself but one my amazing boyfriend surprised me with last week when I got home from work which was the best thing ever.

 My next bath will be filled with magic and sparkles and I cannot wait to use the Unicorn horn. I am also looking into buying the new Prince Charming shower gel, as anything with marshmallow on the label has me reaching for my purse, cannot resist.

Stylist Meeting...

 Today at I got to look into the world of styling and preparing for a large scale photo shoot for a high street brand. I work in the head office of the high street brand I'm talking about today and I love it. I've technically been there for a few years now but I was a work experience, now I have a role and being paid! It's such an amazing job and I learn thousands of new things everyday. Anyway let's get to the topic of today..

 I got into the office this morning, put down my stuff, quickly checked my emails then it was straight off to the stylist meeting. This wasn't my first stylist meeting but because the photo shoot was a large one and was being held in New York it was a very important and hectic day. I've met the stylist they use before and she's lovely. She dresses so simple yet sophisticated, not how I imagined a stylist would dress but it totally works, she's so chic. Someone had drawn a diagram of the room and the positions we should all be in, I laughed at the stick figure with spikey hair and 'Laura' underneath it. My role was to make sure all the clothes which were put together in outfits and which shots they were going to be in were communicated into shoot sheets with all the proper codes and information, including styling comments. Now this doesn't sound like much, or even fun, but blimey!

 I hovered around the stylist and the team, which included the creative managers and the heads of buying departments whilst they were selecting the outfits and it was so interesting and exciting to listen and see the process, especially with a freelance stylist involved. I had always thought how fun and amazing it would be to work on a photo shoot or be a stylist, but I never really thought about or knew what goes into it, and it's a lot of work. Although, being hired to stand in a room full of clothes and making outfits sounds like an amazing job, freelance stylist yes please.

 The meeting went on all day and included a lot of running round and stressing, making sure all the numbers and codes of the items were correctly placed on the shoot sheets and packed. Luckily we had two work experience girls in, although they were a tad bit slow...

 I love looking around at all the product so much. I make an imaginary shopping list so when it hits stores god help my bank balance..

 I'm excited to see all the shots from the shoot! I'd love to go to a photo shoot with the company and see what really goes on and that! Think it would be an amazing experience.

 I love the shots and photo shoots that the brand I work for achieve, I love the philosophy of the brand and how they communicate it through the shoots. I've seen all the shoots that'll be in store soon and they're amazing!

 Overall today was hectic but definitely an eye opener! I love how much I learn everyday at head office and not just visual merchandising wise. Fashion is such a vast field and if you don't have a clue of what direction you'd like to go into then god help you as so many sides of fashion seem fun and exciting. I know when I was nearly finishing uni I made a list of what i'd like to do and it was visual merchandising (Obviously) and styling.

Perfume collection

 I made a promise to myself I'd try to at least blog every other day, sat here watching Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs when the boyf reminds me I haven't blogged. So i grab the camera and snap this, my perfume tray (excuse the Vaseline spray, just bought this but it's amazing!) Now, can you tell what my favourite perfume brand is? If you can't, you need to get to your local Boots now and educate yourself! Yes, Juicy Couture. I am obsessed with their perfumes! They're gorgeous! I have owned every single one (Couture Couture is not pictured as it's at home with my parents) they've released.. UNTIL the two new Malibu and La La Malibu perfumes came out.. currently waiting for either my birthday, Christmas or I have enough points on my Boots card to get them.

 I got this tray from the Range and it's so cute, had it for like 2 or 3 years now, I love their homeware collection!

 Another perfume favourite of mine haaas to be the Paris Hilton perfumes, another one I've owned nearly everyone of (all apart from Tease and Dazzle), but only have Heiress (my all time fav) and Siren here with me in my uni town, well I say uni, I've literally just graduated, but you get the point.

 I have 5 Hollister sprays but they're all nearly empty. Even though they last for ages, I feel so guilty spending that much on body sprays whenever I go in there. I need to wait till their all completely gone before I splurge on them! They are amazing though, at cheer practise I used to spray them all the time and someone would go 'who just sprayed?' i'd be like 'MEEEEEE it's hollister' and love life. They're so good!

 All the cult classics take place on the tray as well, such as Christina Aguilera and Britney Spears, again, owned a few of each of these brands! I also love the CK Shock perfume, so I have a little handbag one and a big one.

 This is actually me cut back on my perfumes on the tray recently after moving house. My boyf complains theres still too much and I only need 2 or 3, but what do men know!? I only have the 2 new Juicy C perfumes on my wish list so I can't see this collection drastically changing for a loooong time!

 Missguided always make the most comfy playsuits and I love lounging round in them, the print on this is mega cute as well. I'm realllly into jeans as well at the moment, going through a definite jeans phase. I got 2 acid wash pairs, I don't know why because i've never been a fan but these just called out to me. I wanted to order these Missguided jeans for aaaages now, i wasn't going to but my boyfriend spent a load of money going out, so whenever he spends, i'm spending, as we're currently trying to save up our money, so it only seems fair... when he spends, I spend..

 I've wanted this backpack as well from New Look for aaaaages since I keep seeing it pop up on Bloggers' sites and instagrams everywhere! It's such a handy little thing and fits all the essentials in whilst still looking fab. 

 Thanks to the boyf moving his foot, the tshirt actually reads 'Just be you.. But more like Beyoncé' incase it isn't perfectly clear. I saw it in the sale in Urbs and I have a massive Bey' obsession so i grabbed it and ran to the tillpoint without looking at anything else (mainly to avoid spending more money....). This Glen Coco tshirt from Missguided is amazingly fun as well, I love silly slogan tshirts, YOU GO GLEN COCO!

 Aaaaand lastly, these beaut' New Look sandals which I've been seeing eeeverywhere. They're so cuuuute!

 And there it is, all my new stuff from last week. I caaaannot spend anymore money so (hopefully) there wont be a haul post anytime soon.... who am I kidding, I bloody love spending money on new clothes and accessories! You can never have too many! I have two wardrobes and a chest of drawers full and only gave my boyf 2 drawers (as we're sharing a room in a shared house with my friends), boys don't need space anyway do they?!

I was naughty on Missguided the other day and treated myself to these beauties. This is also the first time I've ordered a bunch of stuff and haven't wanted to return/exchange any of it! Safe! The instant I tried on this playsuit I fell in love, it's amazing and so pretty, I think I might have to wear this to work if weather permits! I'm a massive Spain fan and supporting them this World Cup so I bought this crop top so I can cheer them on with! This skirt is so cute, and I usually struggle with lengths with Missguided as i'm tall and they like to make everything so short usually so when I bend over or even lif my arms my knickers appear, but this fitted nicely and I liked the length! And finally this open shoulder cami, when I first put it on I thought it was a bit too big but the more I wore it I liked the oversized casual look to it so decided to keep it. Isn't it typical, the one time you hoped you wouldn't like things to get money back to carry on saving up you end up loving it all.. Oh well! The saving continues... For now....

My Weekend at Nationals!

 Every year thousands of cheerleaders descend to Nottingham at the last weekend of March for what is the biggest event in the cheerleading calender for UK cheer, Nationals. It's a massive competition where hundreds of teams compete. It's not just for cheerleading however, jazz dance, pom dance and even hip hop dance compete.

 This was my 3rd Nationals as a competitive cheerleader and my second on a hip hop team. I attended Nationals with my university squad, the Solent Ravens. We have 3 competitive squads, being the All Girl Level 3, Hip hop and the Level 3 Stunt group (who came 1st in their division!).

 Nationals is a long weekend full of hairspray, glitter and screaming girls everywhere, but it's definitely a weekend to remember. I enjoy watching all the allstar squads who are amazing, such as my favourite Unity Black. When they hit the mat, every single person in the arena runs to watch and even get their phones out to film them, they're amazing.

 The Solent Ravens are a new squad who have only been running for 4 years, which is nothing compared to the standard of squads we compete with. We've come a long way over the years and it's exciting being part of a new and upcoming squad. We faced a huge number of challenges along the road to Nationals, with so many girls injuring themselves (me included) but we all made it and gave it the best we could, are more importantly, had fun.

Hip Hop Squad

 I enjoy being a cheerleader so much as it's physically demanding and challenging, but also so enjoyable and honestly, addicting. I cannot express the feeling and sensation of being on the competition mat, it's amazing. I remember in my second year of competitive cheer at a competition in Loughborough, I had pulled my groin muscle so badly it really hurt to walk and even stand on, however the pain disappeared whilst I was on the mat as the adrenaline and excitement just took over.

 We stayed at this amazing hotel, and had the luxury of free access to a pool, jacuzzi and sauna, that was open till late at night. I'm not a fan of swimming or pools at all, but as soon as I got into the heated pool and boiling hot jacuzzi, I was overfilled with happiness. Definitely want a jacuzzi in my house now. We even hit the jacuzzi and pool hours before we competed on the second day. Not sure any other cheer squad competing could have said they had just left a jacuzzi before they performed!

 On the Saturday evening, the squad all enjoyed a pizza and chill night together. I had never seen so much pizza in one place at one time.  I was starving as well so my pizza didn't last longer than 3 minutes.. It was so nice to relax and have fun with my friends. Especially afterwards with a bottle of wine and music with the girls I was sharing a room with.

 Overall the weekend was so fun and it makes me want to be a competitive cheerleader forever. I will definitely be one of those cheer mums when I'm older, making my little girl be the best cheerleader in the world.

My Fashion Career Story.. So far...

Ever since I was a little girl I’ve always known I’ve wanted a career in fashion. I made my mum get me some fashion designer kit one Christmas when I was really young and loved it; from then on I was adamant I was going to be a future top successful fashion designer. At school, whenever someone would ask me what I wanted to do when I grow up, was always answered with ‘’fashion designer’’. However for a week it once changed to hair dresser, but switched right back. Always knowing I’ve wanted to be in fashion helped so much with GCSE options and A Level choices as I chose courses I knew would lead me in the right direction. 

At 16 I got my first retail job in New Look, a brand I’ve basically grown up with as my mum has worked for them since forever. Here I had my first taste a visual merchandising. I’ve always loved looking at shop windows, I find them so interesting and the concept of grabbing a customer’s attention via styling on a mannequin in the window which they’d potentially look at for a good 5 seconds before choosing whether or not to enter your store is exciting. Through me constantly bugging and trying to get involved whenever I can, I was given the chance to be the store Window/Mannequin specialist. I think I was either 17 or 18 when this happened and I was so excited. The responsibility motivated me so much and I took the role a little too seriously for a part time job, however I loved it so much. I’d come in early to change the mannequins, bust forms and the windows whenever they needed doing (and even when they didn’t). Even tidying the windows from dust and smudge marks excited me, as I had my very own role and responsibility!

Then came University. I researched all the places which had fashion courses to offer, all of them advertising that they wanted students who had completed a Foundation Art degree. Now I had my heart set on NOT doing a Foundation art degree, doing a AS Level in Fine Art killed it for me, after GCSE Art and 2 A Levels in an art subject (Graphics and Fine Art) made me want to stop Art and just focus on fashion, I had enough of it. I applied and interviewed for places and mostly was turned away at application process as I hadn’t got my Foundation. Now this was horrible, was seriously considering saying no to university full stop and working my way up instead. Luckily I received an offer for an Interview for Epsom University. Went and looked around and then came to the group portfolio showing. Wow. Now I realised why they ask for a foundation art degree. These girl’s portfolios were jam packed! I went away knowing I hadn’t got in and debated this bloody Foundation art degree, HOWEVER along came Southampton Solent and offered me a place. Yes! Was so happy.

 

I came to University knowing I was going to be a Visual Merchandiser. The course I’m on is so varied in fashion that we do it all. PR, Styling, Buying and Merchandising.. You name it we do it (apart from pattern cutting which I’m definitely not complaining about). This left me in a panicking state a few  months ago when my course leader told us to start applying for jobs. What do I want to do now as I’ve tasted so much fashion industry choices?! 

 During my time at university however, I had completed a load of work experience at New Look head office, yes this brand is a brand very close to my heart! I was the International Visual Marketing Assistant and bloody loved it. Apart from the half 6 in the morning wake ups, it was so fun and it was definitely a career choice I wanted to pursue. The head office itself was amazing; I’d find myself wandering around just ogling all the shoes and pretty clothes. I even got to attend a few Press Days which I absolutely loved. I mainly worked in the Visual Marketing department but my role required me to work with other departments as well, so I got to see and taste all of it, and I loved it. During my time here I learnt more about Visual Merchandising and the nitty gritty details of it. I was involved in training workshops and even got to assist in creating training modules to send to Field VM Managers to train their VMs in their regions! By the time I left I felt so confident in my visual merchandising knowledge.

  My Visual favourites are the obvious, being Selfridges London and designer brands such as Louis Vuitton and Chanel. One of my favourites has to be the Louis Vuitton gold dinosaur skeleton concept as I bloody love dinosaurs and love LV, it was genius. The dream is to one day reach this level. I want to style and go nutty in the windows for one of these brands, with an amazing Visual Merchandising budget I can imagine, and let creativity loose on the mannequins and concept. It'll take a lot to get there. The reason I cannot continue my story is because I don't know the next steps. I'm completely stuck on what to do next, trying to find a VM job role right now but there's little out there I can find and I need to concentrate on finishing this bloody FMP for my degree.
