Style Inspo// Personal Style

ALL IMAGES - TUMBLR
I love tumblr and I use it to gain inspiration for my personal style. I don't like Pinterest, I tried it once, didn't like it and haven't gone back to it, I'm sure if i tried again I wouldn't mind it.. but I've been using tumblr for 4 years now and it suits me fine. Instagram, that's a given YES, on it all day long on my phone, Lookbook is also great, but again, I'm in love with the tumblr. I follow some great accounts or more than often I will rely on the search tool, type in a key word, and let the inspiration juices flow. I wish they would magically invent a button that says 'buy now' and you can buy the clothing or items you see on tumblr, because that would make life a lot easier and fashionable for me.

If the image features a Celine handbag or a gold Marc Jacobs/Michael Kors watch, I'm all over that. I also follow a lot of Kylie Jenner (my queen) style accounts as she's also a massive influence on my style.. well not so much I walk round in black caged high heels with teal dip-dye, just the colours (or lack of) she wears and how she makes everything so, effortless and simple but so stylish and fabulous, I love her.

My style is quite simple. I like layers, neutral colours and the effortless style look. I like outfits to have one key statement rather than a whole shebang, for example, A nice flannel shirt with plain tee and jeans and trainers, or a statement necklace with a plain black dress and boots. I don't like to overdo it as that's just not me, I am a laid-back girl (with a tight bank account). By all means, if I had the dough, I'm sure my dress sense would get a lot fancier.

Do you use tumblr or Pinterest for style inspiration? Is there anything else out there you use? You a plain, effortless chick like me?

Missguided Purchases..

Not a massive haul but I bought these two items from Missguided and thought they were too nice not to share. First up is this Navy Checked Dungaree Play suit (here) which I thought I wouldn't like but I tried it on and loved it. The only problem is I have a long body and tall so play suits and dungarees which don't look ridiculous on me are so hard to find, this is great but it's a bit short and rides up at the back a bit, but oh well.

Secondly is this Jersey Oversized Trapeze Dress (here) which for once from Missguided FITS ON ME HOW IT'S MEANT TOO! I was sceptical at first as the sizes available are S/M or M/S and being so tall and lanky with dresses from Missguided, always ends up with me returning them because they don't cover my knickers when I bend over or lift up my arms.. ever.. but this does! It fits how it's meant to on me! So haaaapppyyy! I can bend over, wave my arms above my head, and my pants aren't on show, it's a miracle! I love it so much! I feel like a little cute rag doll in it.

And those are the only things I bought (and kept) from this Missguided order. I tend to put millions in my basket but money is tight this month so I behaved and only bought a few, good girl to me.

Have you bought anything recently from Missguided?

Stylist Meeting...

Today at I got to look into the world of styling and preparing for a large scale photo shoot for a high street brand. I work in the head office of the high street brand I'm talking about today and I love it. I've technically been there for a few years now but I was a work experience, now I have a role and being paid! It's such an amazing job and I learn thousands of new things everyday. Anyway let's get to the topic of today..

I got into the office this morning, put down my stuff, quickly checked my emails then it was straight off to the stylist meeting. This wasn't my first stylist meeting but because the photo shoot was a large one and was being held in New York it was a very important and hectic day. I've met the stylist they use before and she's lovely. She dresses so simple yet sophisticated, not how I imagined a stylist would dress but it totally works, she's so chic. Someone had drawn a diagram of the room and the positions we should all be in, I laughed at the stick figure with spikey hair and 'Laura' underneath it. My role was to make sure all the clothes which were put together in outfits and which shots they were going to be in were communicated into shoot sheets with all the proper codes and information, including styling comments. Now this doesn't sound like much, or even fun, but blimey!

I hovered around the stylist and the team, which included the creative managers and the heads of buying departments whilst they were selecting the outfits and it was so interesting and exciting to listen and see the process, especially with a freelance stylist involved. I had always thought how fun and amazing it would be to work on a photo shoot or be a stylist, but I never really thought about or knew what goes into it, and it's a lot of work. Although, being hired to stand in a room full of clothes and making outfits sounds like an amazing job, freelance stylist yes please.

The meeting went on all day and included a lot of running round and stressing, making sure all the numbers and codes of the items were correctly placed on the shoot sheets and packed. Luckily we had two work experience girls in, although they were a tad bit slow...

I love looking around at all the product so much. I make an imaginary shopping list so when it hits stores god help my bank balance..

I'm excited to see all the shots from the shoot! I'd love to go to a photo shoot with the company and see what really goes on and that! Think it would be an amazing experience.

I love the shots and photo shoots that the brand I work for achieve, I love the philosophy of the brand and how they communicate it through the shoots. I've seen all the shoots that'll be in store soon and they're amazing!

Overall today was hectic but definitely an eye opener! I love how much I learn everyday at head office and not just visual merchandising wise. Fashion is such a vast field and if you don't have a clue of what direction you'd like to go into then god help you as so many sides of fashion seem fun and exciting. I know when I was nearly finishing uni I made a list of what i'd like to do and it was visual merchandising (Obviously) and styling.

Hope you enjoyed todays post! Getting on top of this blogging thing aren't I! Loves it.

Wish List

I have like, zero pence to my name at the minute. I have no time to work overtime due to FMP and major cheerleading competitions and everyone is so expensive. To make myself feel slightly better about not buying everything I want, instead i'll blog about them.

1. ASOS Lattice Strap Waist Cut Out Swimsuit, £32

ASOS
In a few weeks i'm travelling to Spain for a week on tour. Tour is basically a massive sports team piss up week, i'll blog about it later. I hate these costumes for tanning purposes, but for tour you don't really tan as it's not hot enough, you just drink and try to look pretty (whilst incredibly bloated from all the alcohol) so this beauty would be perfect.. if I had a spare £32 to spend on a costume just to stand round and try and look pretty in...

2. New Look Light Blue Acid Wash Short Dungarees, £24.99

New Look
How adorable are these dungarees. I love the light blue acid wash look as well. I'd love to wear a novelty tshirt underneath it as well, really rock the 90s kid look.

3. Topshop NINA Jelly Sandals in Black, £24

TOPSHOP
I had a pair of jelly shoes when I was a child but they were flat as mother wouldn't let me have the heeled version, even though I don't agree with children wearing heels so right on mother! But now i'm a big girl aka 21 years old I think it's time I was able to wear proudly a paid of HEELED jelly sandals.

4. Tobi Native Breeze Cardigan, £28 (was £41)
Tobi
I love this aztec/navajo style cardigan and I love how it's styled as well, very LA beach cool, kind of reminds me of Miley before she cut of all her hair, bleached it blonde and went nutty. You remember the Miley i'm on about? Long brown wavy hair? Always out in denim shorts and carrying cute puppies or bottles of water everywhere? Aaah I miss that Miley..

Well this is all I can handle before getting upset at my lack of funds. Hope you all agree in my choices!

Till next time!
